All India Inter-University Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Malkhamb Championship 2011-12 inaugurated at GND University

Amritsar, January 3 – All India Inter-University Artistic Gymnastics (Men & Women), Rhythmic Gymnastics (Women) and Malkhamb Championship 2011-12 has been inaugurated here today in the Multipurpose Gymnasium Hall at the Guru Nanak Dev University Campus. More than 1800 players from all over India are participating in this championship which would concludes on January 7.
Dr. P.C. Kashyap, Executive Director (Teams), Sports Authority of India, New Delhi inaugurated this championship by unfurling the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) flag. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A.S. Brar presided over. Dr. K.N. Kaul, Principal, DAV College, Amritsar and President GNDUSC (Men) welcomed the chief guest and others while Dr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar presented vote of thanks on this occasion. Principal Dr. Mrs. Atima Sharma, Presidents GNDUSC (Women), Mr. Ashish Kumar, Arjuna Awardee 2011 in Gymnastics and Dr. H.S. Randhawa, Assistant Director Sports Campus were also present. Dr. Kanwaljit Singh, O.S.D., Sports detailed about the achievements of the University.
    Dr. Kashyap said that Gymnastic is mother of all games and needs dire attention of everyone. He said that among 16 teams participating in Olympics scheduled to be held at London, Gymnastic is one of them. He said that hard work with dedication always results good. So, sports person should always practice hard to achieve their goals.
Vice-Chancellor in his presidential remarks said that youth should always get away from drugs and use their energy for constructive and creative purposes. He said that sports always play a vital role in the life of youth to utilize their energy and teach them how to be in discipline.
