Amritsar, January 20- A 2-day National Conference was organized here today by the Bhai Gurdas Library of Guru Nanak Dev University on the theme, "Librarianship in Digital Era". This conference was presided by Dean, Academic Affairs, Dr. Rajinderjit Kaur Pawar and Chief guest was Dr. Jagdish Arora, Director, Inflibnet, Ahmedabad.
Dr. H.S. Chopra organizer of the Conference welcomed the guests. In his keynote address, Dr. Jagdish Arora has spoke on the role of libraries and librarians in the digital etc. He strongly emphasized that the readers should be provided quality learning space and virtual reference service and outreach programmes. For the users is the need of the hour. As the digital sources are multiplying day by day, digital preservation and digitizing the analogue sources would be great initiative in helping our users.
Dr. Rajindejit Kaur Pawar, Dean, Academic Affairs spoke on the occasion, she was of the view that digital preservation of manuscripts and other documents should be undertaken and librarians should move with the changing times. The Conference is being attended by more than 200 delegates from different states of India. More than 80 papers will be presented in seven sessions.
