Capt Amarinder cautions people against Akalis’ deceit

DEHLON (LUDHIANA), January 23: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today cautioned people against the lies and deceit of the Akalis. He said, the people of Punjab must realize that they have made same promises in their election manifesto in 2007 and done nothing despite coming to power.
Addressing a well attended public rally organised in support of the party candidate from Gill assembly segment, Milkiat Singh Dakha here today, he pointed out, the Akalis had promised surplus power in Punjab by year 2010. He reminded people as how Sukhbir promised that state will produce enough power to export it to other states. “And now he has made the same promise again of making Punjab power surplus by 2013”, he pointed out, while remarking, there can be no blatant lie other than this as the state still faces three day a week power cuts.
Referring to other promises like starting metro train in Ludhiana, he said, the same promise Sukhbir had made in 2007. “And not a single brick has been laid anywhere so far”, he said, while warning people to beware against their deceit. He told Sukhbir, “you can fool some people sometimes but not all the people all the times which you are trying to do”.
The former Chief Minister asked people to judge for themselves what they have done during last five years. “Don’t forget how they victimized Congress workers, how they looted and robbed the state and its resources and how they grabbed all the sand mining contracts, liquor vends, transport and cable operations”, he pointed out.
Ridiculing the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal for seeking a fifth term, he remarked, “does he really need a fifth chance as he has already robbed and looted the state in his four terms so much so that his family has got richer and richer while Punjab has become poorer”.
Asking people to exercise caution while casting their vote, he said, time has come to rid Punjab off this government as it is the question of Punjab’s future and the future generations.
Ludhiana MP and the National Spokesperson of the Congress Manish Tewari and the local candidate Milkiat Singh Dakha also spoke on the occasion.
Among other present included Ludhiana District president Pawan Dewan, KK Bawa, Amarjit Singh Tikka and others.
