“KNOW YOUR ARMY” MELA ORGANISED BY FLAMING ARROWS AT KHASA

Amritsar :  23 Jan 2012 : An Army Mela was organised at Khasa with the theme of “Know Your Army” on 23 Jan 12 at Khasa Cantt, Amritsar.  Maj Gen A Chakravarty,
General Officer Commanding, Panther Division, the Chief Guest on the occasion inaugurated the event.  The mela was organised with the dual aim of strengthening the relations of army with civil populace and instilling a sense of confidence in them, about the role and performance of the Army in Punjab.  A large number of civilians,
including women, children, budding youth of schools and colleges alongwith senior civil officials witnessed the mega event the first of its kind in Khasa. In order to demonstrate to the  populace,  the punch of the Indian Army, a weapon and equipment display was organised at the venue, which was the highlight of the day.  The event includes tanks display, Artillery Equipments display. Engineer Equipments, Surveillance Equipment, Pipe Band Display and Combat Drills. The young generation was elated as tank and BMP rides were organised for them,  and the response from young and old was phenomenal. The programme was appreciated by all. The audience were enthralled
with the scintillating band and equipment display.  A medical camp was also organized on this occasion, with the aim of providing valuable medical advice, and to dispense free medicines to needy people of the adjoining areas.  A  large number of children from various schools ie, Army Public School Amritsar, The Millennium  School, Cambridge
International School, DAV International School, Alpine Public School, Shri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School, Khalsa College, Globus Management Institute and Kendriya Vidayalaya Amrtisar witnessed the mela.  A lot of veteran Ex Servicemen and Veer Naries also graced the occasion. Valuable information about their entitlement and various policy updates were given to them. Recruitment Board, Amritsar had also organised a stall where all information and handouts were given to the youth with regard to educational qualifications and age limits.
