LUDHIANA, JANUARY 25 :  With the announcement of Padma Shri Award to the former PAU teacher and an eminent Punjabi Poet, Dr. Surjit Patar, the congratulatory messages are pouring.  The award is being bestowed to Dr. Patar in recognition to his contribution in the area of literature and culture.  The PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr. B.S.Dhillon, in his telephonic message from Germany has congratulated Dr. Patar and said that everyone at PAU feels elevated.  Dr. Patar served PAU since 1972 as a Punjabi teacher and has produced his literary works here.  Last year, PAU honoured Dr. Patar for his receiving the Sarasvati Sanman.  Dr. Dhillon said that Padma Shri to Dr. Patar in 2012 is a new attainment in the Golden Jubilee Year of PAU.  The former PAU Vice-Chancellors, Dr. A.S.Khehra, Dr. K.S.Aulakh, Dr. S.S.Johl, Dr. G.S.Kalkat and Dr. Manjit Singh Kang have also congratulated Dr. Patar.
            The PAU Young Writers Association, PAU Sahit Sabha and PAU Teachers Association have also congratulated Dr. Patar and will be organizing a felicitation function for him.  Dr. R.K. Mahey, Registrar, PAU, Dr. S.S.Gosal, Director of Research, Dr. D.S.Cheema, Dean, College of Agriculture, Dr. R.S.Sidhu, Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Additional Director of Communication, Mr. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, Dr. A.P.Singh, Dr. Nimal Jaura, Dr. Gulzar Pandher, Dr. Sukhchain, Dr. Anil Sharma and Dr. H.S.Kingra have also congratulated Dr. Patar for the honour.
