PAU CONGRATULATES DR. K.L.CHADHA FOR BEING AWARDED PADMA SHRI

LUDHIANA, JANUARY 27: The announcement of Padma Shri Award by Government of India to Dr. K.L.Chadha, an eminent Horticulturist and an alumnus of PAU has added another feather to the cap of the University.  The PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon, while congratulating Dr. Chadha has said that everyone in the University feels elevated.  Dr. Dhillon said that Padma Shri to two former faculty members of PAU, Dr. Chadha and Dr. Patar in 2012 is a new attainment in the Golden Jubilee Year of PAU.  He said that Dr. Chadha, by working at various eminent administrative positions in the country, has contributed tremendously in the promotion of horticulture in India.
            Dr. Chadha served as National Professor, Deputy Director General (Horticulture), Horticulture Commissioner, Director, Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore, Project Coordinator (Fruits) and Head, Central Mango Research Station, Lucknow in the ICAR and as Executive Director, National Horticulture Board, Gurgaon.  He also served PAU in its formative years.  Dr. Chadha has been decorated with several national and international awards and honours in the areas of horticulture.  The notable awards include Dr. B.P.Pal Award, Borlaug Award, Om Parkash Bhasin Award, S.K.Mittra Memorial Award, Life Time Achievement Award, FAI Morarji Memorial Award, etc.
            The Deans, Directors, Officers, faculty of Departments of Horticulture, Vegetable Crops and Landscaping and Floriculture at PAU joined Dr. Dhillon in congratulating Dr. Chadha for this coveted honour.
