Students Pedaled for Oil Conservation

To mark martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi
Chandigarh, January 30: Today, Hindustan Petroleum along with Yuvsatta, Peace Club of Government Model High School, Sector 22D, New Public School and Moti Ram Arya Sr. Sec. School, Chandigarh organized a bicycle rally from Parade ground to Sukhna Lake. The rally was organized to promote the concept of green living & oil conservation to mark the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi and culmination of Oil Conservation Fortnight of PCRA. Santosh Kumar, Director, Department of Environment flagged-off the rally.
Around 200 School students on bicycles, carrying placards of ‘Oil Conservation’ participated in the programme. Giving information about the initiative MP Rane of Hindustan Petroleum shared that during this fortnight the entire oil industry undertakes various kinds of activities to emphasize the need and importance of conservation of petroleum products & environment protection.
Santosh Kumar while addressing the students before the start of rally he said that every cyclist is one less vehicle, one less parking space, less noise, a few less lungs full of fumes. Plus ride on Cycles is healthy, enjoyable, and economical and it can be easily termed as modern day spinning wheel.
The rally ended at Sukhna Lake with a quiz on ‘Oil Conservation’ where winning students were honoured by Pramod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta.
