Amritsar, February 3, 2012 : The newly formed English Literary Society (ELS) at Khalsa College today organized a Quiz 20:20 competition on the campus to test the literary faculties of the students. The final year students team from Bachelor of Physiotherapy won the overall trophy while team from the department of Bachelor of Sciences stood second and third position was bagged by the students from Bachelor of Computer Science.
College Principal, Dr. Daljit Singh gave prizes and trophies to the winners. There were six teams, each having four students, who enthusiastically took part in the quiz on English literature and current developments in the language. The quiz had six rounds and multimedia facilities were used to help making the quiz interesting.
While giving the prizes, Dr. Daljit Singh said that the college has over 21 societies formed with the aim to inculcate the leadership qualities, confidence, developing communication skills and sense of responsibility among the students. Each society has 21 members with a president, vice-president and a finance secretary. These societies are managed by students themselves under the able guidance of their teachers who act as conveners and co-conveners.
Present on the occasion were Dr. Baljinder Singh, Registrar, Dr. TS Bhatia, Dr. Surjeet Kaur, Prof. Devinder Singh, Dr. Bhupinder Singh, Prof. Supninder Kaur, Prof. Parneet Dhillon, Prof. Jasmeet Walia, Dr. Divya attended the function. Prof. Sawant Singh Manto welcomed the Principal and participants while Dr. Navneen Bawa, Head, Department of English presented the vote of thanks. Gurjeet Singh and Jasleen acted as quiz masters.
