H.P. State Electricity Board to be strengthened

SHIMLA 4th February 2012 : Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal said that H.P. State Electricity Board Ltd. would be strengthened so as to deliver better goods to the people. He said that State Government would recommend to enhance the promotion quota of Junior Engineers and Additional Assistant Engineers from 38 to 40 percent. He was speaking in 10th Conference of the Junior Engineers and Additional Assistant Engineers of the HPSEB Ltd. at Una today.
Chief Minister said that revised pay scales had been implemented in the Board and financial benefits of Rs. 204 crore had been given to the employees. Besides Rs. 280 crore had been released to benefit the pensioners. He said that four CFL bulbs were provided  free of cost to  all domestic consumers in the State which had helped in saving power amounting to Rs. 110 crore annually. The State Government was providing Rs. 166 crore subsidy on domestic power so as to lessen the burden on the domestic consumers.
Prof. Dhumal said that State Government was committed to safeguard in interests of its power engineers. He said that the promotion quota  of the  diploma holder engineers  for the post of Assistant Engineers had been increased to 38 percent  and grade pay had been enhanced by Rs. 150. Besides 280 diploma holder Junior Engineers had been promoted as Assistant Engineers and 139 diploma holders Assistant Engineers as Executive Engineers. The State Government had filled up 370 posts of Junior Engineers while 66 more were being recruited. He said that financial assistance of Rs. 3.86 crore had been provided to the next of kin of deceased and natural calamities affected employees of the Board under Welfare Fund Scheme till March, 2011. He said that Himachal Pradesh had taken lead in ensuring power supply to every village of the State. This had been possible with the dedication of the Board who were working in adverse conditions.
Chief Minister also released a souvenir brought out by the organisers to mark the occasion.
Shri Satpal Singh Satti, Chief Parliamentary Secretary while welcoming the Chief Minister said that present State Government had enhanced the promotional quota of Junior Engineers from 22 percent to 38 percent. He lauded the efforts of Board employees in ensuring power supply upto far flung areas of the State. He thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating developmental works of over Rs. 100 crore in Una assembly constituency during past four years.
Shri S.V. Singh, National President, All India Federation of Power Engineers urged the Chief Minister fulfil the demands of the State federation.
Shri Dalip Singh Dadwalia, President, HP State Electricity Board Federation detailed out the demands of the Association.
Shri Virender Kanwar, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Shri Praveen Sharma, Vice Chairman, Water Management Board, Smt. Santosh Saini, Chairperson, HIMFED, Shri Ajay Rana, Vice President, State BJP, Shri Balbir Bagga, President, State BJP SC Morcha, other prominent persons and senior officers were present on the occasion.
