Khalsa College honours its high jump record-holder Jagdeep

Amritsar, February 6, 2012 : In continuation of its endevour to recognize contribution of its star performers, Khalsa College today honoured BA first year student Jagdeep Singh who recently set a new high jump record of 2.15 meters in All India Inter-University Athletics Meet, held in Mangalore (Karnataka). He had broken his own record of 2.11 meters which he had set in 2005.
The College Principal Dr. Daljit Singh felicitated Jagdeep in his office in presence of sports in charge Bachan Pal Singh and congratulated him for the achievement. Jagdeep was also declared the Best Athlete of the Meet is an upcoming athlete of national level and is setting eyes on Indoor Asian Games to be held in China in coming a few months.
Dr. Daljit Singh said that College honoured Jagdeep with the merit certificate for excellence in the sports throughout the year. He said they were providing every help including coaching and sports infrastructure to the athlete to show his mettle at the various upcoming national and international events in the coming days.
Jagdeep meanwhile said that he wanted to concentrate now on next Asian Games. The trials for the same are starting shortly and he wanted to give his hundred per cent for national camp of the game being held In Patiala, soon. Jagdeep’s whole family is in the sports who inspired him for the hard work in the arena. He had already earned a cash prize of Rs.20,000 for his achievements, said Bachanpal Singh.
