WORKSHOP ON RISK ASSESSMENT AND INSURANCE PRODUCTS ORGANISED AT PAU

LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 6: The Department of Economics and Sociology of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a policy advocacy and dissemination workshop on “Risk assessment and insurance products” under the aegis of National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP) here today.
            Chairing the inaugural session, Dr S.S. Gosal, Director of Research, PAU, underlined the need for more research efforts towards analysing risks in the field of agriculture such as declining rainfall, falling ground water table, rising temperature and escalating cost of production. He disclosed that the PAU is laying special focus on climate change and other agriculture based issues. Dr Gosal appreciated the efforts of Dr R.S. Sidhu and Dr Kamal Vatta, the Consortium Centre Principal Investigators (CCIPs) of the project from PAU.
            The participants from Agricultural Insurance Company of India, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (Coimbatore), Yes Bank, National Centre for Agricultural Economics (NCAP) and various other organizations, shared their views on issues pertaining to risk and assessment in agriculture.
            Earlier, Dr M.S. Sidhu, Head, Department of Economics and Sociology, PAU, welcomed the dignitaries and the delegates while Dr S.S. Raju, Principal Scientist, NCAP and Consortium Principal Investigator of the project, presented an overview of the project.
