Khalsa College’s students learn lessons of ‘internet security’ at a Workshop

Amritsar, February 9, 2012 : The students of Khalsa College today learnt valuable lessons regarding the internet security at a special workshop ‘Network Security’, organized by College’s Computer Science Department at the campus. The experts from a private computer education company, Jet King, along with the professors from the department apprised the students about the problems of hackers, internet bug and the security relating the social networking sites.
The workshop was inaugurated by Principal of the College, Dr. Daljit Singh who said inter-net is no more a luxury but a necessity and we should protect ourselves from the ‘intruders’. He said no education is complete today unless the students are made computer literate, thus not only they should learn its uses but should also learn to overcome the misuses of the computers.
The experts including Rajesh Gupta, Nikhit Tyagi and Jaspreet Bawa asked the students and general public to take steps to protect themselves and especially children from the hackers through technology and safety measures. They said that the hackers world over are threat to individuals, institutions and even government organizations.
The experts also gave the power-point presentation to the students regarding hacking of e-mails, social network sites and putting up virus and worms to corrupt the data. “The computers, which are part of our daily lives today, are always susceptible to dangers. There are ways including installing branded and original software operating systems, virus-fighting software and awareness to protect data and files”, said the experts.
Harbhajan Singh Randhawa, Head of Computer Department, who was also convener of the workshop gave the vote of thanks. Prof. Racchpal Singh, Prof. Sukhwinder Kaur, Prof. Mani Arora, Prof. Rupinder Singh, Prof. Sukhbir Kaur, Prof. Poonamjit Kaur, Prof. Kawaljit Kaur, Prof. Parvinder Kaur, Prof. Jagbir Singh, Prof. Rajkaran Singh were also present.
