Amritsar 10th February 2012 : BBK DAV College for women organized the SPORTS DAY on 10-02-12 amidst applauses and floral welcome extended to the chief guest Dr. Kanwaljit Singh, Director sports, GNDU & Mrs. Harpal, District sports officer, Pathankot & Gurdaspur, by Dr. (Mrs) Neelam Kamra, Principal of the college and Mrs. Harpreet M. Kaur, HOD Physical Education.
The Principal Dr. Mrs Neelam Kamra extended a warm welcome to the chief guest as well as the players present with her inspiring speech highlighting the achievements of the college in the field of sports. The college participated in 39 games and brought laurels in 37 along with championship in several games.
The assembly of athletes was cheered up amidst the presence of the distinguished guest. The assembly applauded the march past headed by the head girl, distinguished students and players of national and international level. Dr. Mrs. Neelam Kamra invited the chief guest Dr. Kanwaljit Singh who declared the formal opening of the sports meet.
The colorful balloons flown to the sky symbolized free and high flight of the players. Ms. Surbhi, an intervarsity players took an oath on the behalf of the institution, declaring the importance of sportsmanship in the glory of the sports and players.
The ceremony of lighting the flame was performed by the international player of the college. Music department of the college adorned the ambience and the event with the chanting of Ved Mantras. Chief guest in his inspiring words highlighted the importance of sports and sportsmanship in human life. Both of the guests inspired the students to be regular in studies too, as sports and studies are complementary to each other. He said today’s opening ceremony of the sports meet is no less than the opening of the Olympic games. Mrs. Harpal, expressing her indebtedness to the institution for her present status and her success in the field of sports.
Principal Dr (Mrs) Neelam Kamra concluded the auspicious morning with a note of thanks to the honorable guest along with students and faculty members for their success and achievements in the field of sports.
