Amritsar, February 10 – The Department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences of the Guru Nanak Dev University organized the annual BOT-ENV FEST-2012. The event included cooking and rangoli competition in which all students, research scholars and professors participated. Ms. Vinita Gupta, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology, Dr. Avinash Nagpal, Professor, Dept. of Botanical & Environmental Sciences and Mr. Pawan Kumar, Lecturer, Dept. of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Swami Satyanand College of Management & Technology were the judges on this occasion.
Dr. Adarsh Pal Vig, Head of the department presided over. The event was attended by all faculty members including Dr. G.S. Virk, Dr. A.K. Thukral, Dr. Renu Bhardwaj, Dr. A.S. Soodan, Dr. Saroj Arora, Dr. Satwinderjit Kaur , Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Er. M.S. Bhatti and Mrs. Rajinder Kaur and by all research fellows and students of the esteemed department.
In the rangoli competition, the 1st position was bagged by Ms. Arvinder (PhD) and Ms. Harpreet (M.phil.). The 2nd position went to Ms. Kuljeet, Ms. Dimple and Ms. Madhu of M.Sc. Botany 2nd year. Two consolation prizes were also given to Ms. Reena, Ms. Mamta and Ms. Meenakshi of M.Sc. Environmental Sciences 2nd year and Mr. Sandeep and Ms. Sakshi of M.Sc. Botany 2nd year respectively.
In the cooking competition, 1st rank went to Ms. Neha and Ms. Ashita (PhD); the second position went to Ms. Sumeet, Ms. Prabjot and Ms. Divya of M.Sc. Environmental Sciences 1st year and Mrs. Paramjeet, Ms. Madhu and Mr. Manish (PhD) were declared runners up for the same. A special appreciation prize was given to Arshjeet Singh and Manpreet Kaur.
