Amritsar 11th February 2012 : With the bright and illumined faces in the prestigious institution BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar, began the concluding Sports Day on 11-02-12. Hearty floral welcome was extended to the Chief Guest Sh. Amrit Dhakha ADC, Amritsar by the Principal of the college Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, Mrs. Harpreet Mohan, Head Deptt. of Physical Education, Sh. Sudarshan Kapoor ji, Chairman LMC and Gold Winner Ms. Kuldeep.
Principal Dr. Kamra extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Members of LMC and the Principals of the other institution Presenting the Annual Report, Dr. Kamra highlighted the achievements of the students in the field of sports. The college participated in 39 games and brought laurels in 37 alongwith championship in several games.
The athletes were cheered up in the presence of the distinguished guest. The assembly applauded the March Past headed by the Head Girl, distinguished students & Players of National and International level.
There after came the most awaited moment of the Chief Guest’s inspiring speech, who highlighted the importance of sports and sportsmanship in the human life. He added that one gets true lessons in life only through participation in the sports. A man learns how to accept defeat and victory alike. Moreover he added that BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar is the best place for the growth and holistic development of students. The alumni of the college Ms. Ashi Sharma an International Player was honoured by the Chief Guest. The closing ceremony commenced with Prize Distribution in the presence of Chief Guest. Principal Dr. Kamra expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the honorable guests, other distinguish guests, distinguished members along with students for making this event a great success. At last Mr. Sudarshan Kapoor ji conveyed his vote of thanks to Chief Guest, the guests of honour Mrs. Komal Jain (Alumni of the college) and Deputy Director Sports (Women) GNDU, Amritsar and Mr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh Deputy Director Sports (Men) GNDU, Amritsar. He congratulated the students and teachers for the success of the event.
The Chief Guest declared the meet closed and the flag was handed over to the department of Physical Education (Sports).
