Amritsar, February 11, 2012 : More than 100 Bachelor of Education students had their brush with the art today at local Khalsa College of Education (KCE) as they converged here from all over the state to take part in the Inter-College `Skill-in-Teaching’ and `Fine-Art’ competitions. Mohan Lal Memorial College of Education (MMCE), Mudhal won the overall trophy in skilling teaching while the fine art competition, the trophy went to Guru Nanak College of Education (GNCE), Kapurthala.
KCE Principal Dr. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon said that the aim of the competition was to sharpen the skills of B.Ed. students in the field of art and teaching skills and added that he was overwhelmed by the response. He said their main focus was to test pedagogical skills, innovative teaching, communication skills and interaction amongst the teachers.
The competitions were held in the various categories including Languages, Sciences, Physical Science and Social sciences. In the fine art competitions, the events were organized in poster making, slogan writing, pot making and landscape. Dean, College Development Council, Guru Nanak Dev University, Dr.MS Hundal was the chief guest on the occasion and he gave the prizes to the winner teams. He said in his speech that such competitions enhance the skill of the teachers and also provide them the platform to show their prowess in the art.
In the Science group, Harbind Singh from Sidhana College of Education, Amritsar was first, Ramanjit Kaur from DAV College of Education, Amritsar second and Neha Sharma from GNCE, Kapurthala was third while in the individual section, Rajni from KCE, Amritsar won the first prize. In social science group, Shally from KCE and Ruhi from MMCE were bracketed as first and Manu Kumari from DAV and Sunit from GNCE were third.
