PAU HORTICULTURIST JOINS AS DIRECTOR OF PHPTC

LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 13: Dr Wasakha Singh Dhillon, Professor of Horticulture, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), joined as Director of Punjab Horticultural Post-Harvest Technology Centre (PHPTC- located on-campus), here today.
            Dr Dhillon has made remarkable contributions to horticultural research, crop improvement, plant propagation, agro-horti techniques and post-harvest technology. His scientific findings led to the development of 10 varieties, one root stock and 25 recommendations on different fruit crops, which are included in the Package of Practices of the university. He has been the Principal Investigator of four adhoc schemes of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and other agencies. He has publications of 142 research papers to his credit.
            Dr Dhillon has made significant contributions to the field of education. He has been actively involved in the restructuring of UG and PG course curriculum of horticulture. He played a key role as a Chairman of Academic Affairs Committee (Teaching) of the department, President of Athletic Club of the College of Agriculture and as a President of University Athletic Committee. He is a recipient of Shri GL Chandha Memorial Gold Medal and Fellowship by Horticultural Society of India, Shri Hans Raj Pahwa Award, Meritorious Teacher Award by the PAU and many others. The PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon and the Head of Department of Horticulture, Dr P.S. Aulakh congratulated Dr Dhillon for this achievement.
