PAU VC HONOURS STUDENT ARTISTES

LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 13: The student-artistes of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) were honoured by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, for their outstanding performance in cultural activities. A brief and colourful function was organized to honour the students here today.
            Speaking on this occasion, the chief guest Dr Dhillon lauded the achievements of the students in co-curricular activities at the national level. The students, who shine in youth festivals, also excel in academics, he said. Congratulating the students, Dr Dhillon exhorted the youth to give their best in all spheres of life and wished them good luck.
Highlighting the achievements, the Director Students’ Welfare, Dr D.S. Cheema informed that the mime item of the PAU bagged second position during 27th National Inter-Varsity Youth Festival, held at Nagpur from January 22-26. The mime team also secured second position at 27th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival, organized by the Association of Indian Universities at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, in 2011, told Dr Cheema.  The PAU Bhangra team participated in Inter-University Folk Dance Festival, held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, on January 21. Gurshaminder Singh was declared as the “Best Bhangra Dancer” and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5000/-. Besides, the Bhangra and Giddha teams of the PAU participated in Inter-University Cultural Competition, organised by Punjabi Academy, Government of Delhi. The Bhangra team got third position whereas the PAU students namely Harman Mehta and Honeydeep Singh stood third in the folk song item.
