Career Counseling services launched at Palampur by CGC

PALAMPUR: IN view of a perceived lack of career counseling availability in the state of Himachal Pradesh, the Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Mohali today announced opening of a permanent Career Counseling Office at Palampur to help students select the right course and college in keeping with their interest areas and realities of the job market.
“Given the fact that students have a vast choice of courses these days, we often come across cases where the multiplicity of options actually confuses them.  Hence, we acutely felt that students in places like Himachal Pradesh should also have access to professional career counseling,” said Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman CGC.
This Career Counseling Office is part of CGC’s initiatives inspired by its avowed commitment to follow Corporate Social Responsibility norms. “It is true that a large number of students from HP come to various colleges of CGC group, but the Palmpur office has been instructed to offer its services to all students, no matter which course or college they wish to join,” S. Sandhu said.
Located in the heart of the city at the Scandal Point Palampur, the career counseling will be manned by staff trained to deal with diverse queries of students.
“Dedicated Career Helplines at phone numbers 8626884488and 08146651519 have been set up for the students who are unable to reach the Counseling Office. Also, those with access to internet can post any career related queries online at www.cgc.edu.in. All queries are responded to by experts within 24 hours,” said Rashpal Dhaliwal, President of the CGC Group.
“Expert Career Counselors with vast experience of industry and academics have been deputed so that professional guidance can be provided to the admission seekers.” said Dr. Karminder Ghuman while briefing the media about the inauguration of this vital centre.
Dr. B S Sohi, Campus Director of CGC Gharuan campus, emphasized the need for such an establishment as hundreds of youth from the state of Himachal Pradesh are already studying at Chandigarh Group of Colleges and had been asking for such an office for long now.
