LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 17: The Chairman of Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), Dr Gurbachan Singh, visited the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), and interacted with the scientists and postgraduate students of the Department of Agronomy.
Addressing the participants, the PAU alumnus Dr Singh exhorted the scientists to do quality work for competing with the developed nations. Advising the students to work hard by keeping target in their minds, he said “Hard work is a key to success.” He referred to the students as “future scientists” and emphasized the need to apply more science in agronomy to achieve potentials yield of field crops. Dr Singh also motivated the scientists to achieve fellowships of the premier academics like National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) and Indian National Science Academy (INSA). Urging the participants to work with dedication and team spirit, he advised them to extend their research work at national and international levels.
Earlier, Dr G.S. Buttar, Head, Department of Agronomy, welcoming the dignitaries and the participants, highlighted the contributions of Dr Singh. A renowned scientist of agronomy, Dr Singh is a recipient of many prestigious awards/honours and has been Fellow of many leading agricultural societies, he added.
