Ryan, Millennium Schools win second & third positions
Amritsar 20th February, 2012-Host Delhi Public School bagged the “Overall Trophy” at the “8th Inter School Roller Skating Competition” held at school premises.
DPS skaters won 13 medals collecting 45 points in total of 12 competition categories for both boys and girls to raise the Trophy. The competition saw participation by tiny-tots girls and boys in under 06-years and uptil 16-years categories.
Ryan International School bagged the second position with 19 points and 5-medals while The Millennium School won the third position with 18 points and a 6-medal win.
Mr Tasvir Singh a reputed former football coach inaugurated the championship by flying balloons in the presence of school principal Mrs Sangeeta Singh and distinguished guests Mr. Rashpal singh HOD Sports Department Sai College and Mr. Ajit Pal from the same faculty among other guests present.
More than 100 skaters from 11-schools of the city participated in the competition including , Spring Dale Senior School, St. Soldier Elite School, Tender feet School, G.D. Goenka Public School, Bibek Academy, International Fateh Academy, D. D. I School, Sri Guru Harkrishan Sr. Sec. School ( Chowk Pragdas) and the winning schools.
Out of the five gold medals won by DPS three were bagged by DPS girls Zyanapreet Kaur in U-10 Girls , Bhavya Gupta in U 10-12, Japbir Kaur Virk in U 12-14, while skaters Inder partap Singh won in U 12-14 and Anmoldeep Singh won U 14-16 .
Runners-up Ryan International School’s pre-teens did well with skaters Sandeep Gill winning gold in U 6-8, Sonamjeet Kaur in U 6-8 Navroop Singh in U 8-10 categories.
Two boys from The Millennium School Suvansh in U-6 and Harshil in U-14-16 won gold.
After presenting the prizes to winners the Chief Guest motivated the skaters and applauded the efforts of hosts schools in organizing events and encouraging spirit of participation and competition among students of various schools. School principal Ms Sangeeta Singh said that each time such a sports event is organized their dream of holistic education is fulfilled.
