SHIMLA 22nd February 2012 : A large deputation of progressive horticulturists lead by Shri Narender Bragta, Horticulture Minister, presented the National Award bagged by the State in Horticulture in New Delhi recently, to Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, at his official residence here today.
Chief Minister congratulated horticulturists of the State for the achievement which had won the State a national level award in Horticulture sector. He said that the Award happened to be the top one in Horticulture in the country and was presented in a prestigious function by Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Sharad Pawar to the State. He said that it happened to be the 56th National Award the State had won during past four years. He said that such awards were testimony to the hard labour put in by horticulturists which had resulted into winning the prestigious award for the State. He said that the State had been doing exceptionally well in implementation of 20-Point Programme and won top position in the country consecutively for past two years. He said that the State was confident of maintaining its top position for the third year consecutively as the evaluation carried by the Government of India for first three quarters revealed that Himachal Pradesh was at the top in the country. He said that such awards inspires and motivate people of the State to work more hard to maintain top position in all such sectors.
Prof. Dhumal said that it was the government of common man at the helm of affairs and was committed to their speedy upliftment. He said that all policies and programmes were directed towards achieving the objective of uniform and balance development while giving added attention towards the sections and areas which had remained under developed. He said that Himachal Pradesh is geographically located at the top in the country and had proved its capability by winning record 56 national level awards in different sectors. He hoped that the Horticulture Award would motivate horticulturists to work more vigorously to win such more awards in coming years as well.
Shri Narender Bragta, Horticulture Minister, thanked the Chief Minister for his quality leadership and guidance which had helped immensely in strengthening and modernizing the horticulture sector. He said that progressive horticulturists of the State were indebted to Prof. Dhumal for giving added priority in strengthening the horticulture sector.
