Rs. 12 crore spent on creating infrastructure facilities in Hamirpur College

SHIMLA 22nd February 2012 : Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal has called upon the students to restrain from drug menace and help in maintaining academic atmosphere in the educational institutions which will help them in achieving excellence in their pursuits. He was speaking on the occasion of Annual Prize Distribution Function of Netaji Subhash Chander Bose Government Post Graduate College, Hamirpur today.
Prof. Dhumal said that State Government had taken various measures to provide quality infrastructural facilities in the educational institutions which had resulted in making Himachal Pradesh as Educational Hub in the country. He said that Rs. 12 crore had been provided to create various infrastructural facilities in Hamirpur College. He announced Rs. 80 lakh financial assistance for the construction of Information Technology Block and Rs. 51 lakh for completion of Science block.  He said that Rs. 4.34 crore had been provided by the State Government to complete the Science Block of the College which had facilitated the students to pursue their studies in Science as well.
Chief Minister said that a modern synthetic track was being constructed in Hamirpur by spending Rs. eight crore for which ACC Cement Company had provided financial assistance of Rs. four crore. Similarly, Ambuja Cement Company had come forward for assistance in construction of synthetic track in Dharamsala by contributing Rs. four crore. He said that Rs. 1.75 crore  had been provided as additional funds for completion of synthetic track in Hamirpur.
Prof. Dhumal said that Himachal Pradesh had taken a lead in the country by implementing various schemes like ‘Beti Hai Anmol’  for the welfare of women empowerment. He expressed happiness that girls of the college outshined the boys in various activities.
Chief Minister also announced Rs. 25,000 each for promotion of cultural and social activities in the college. He also distributed the prizes to the students who excelled in academic, sports, cultural and other co-curricular activities. Shri P.C. Patiyal, Principal of the college presented a cheque of Rs. 58,500 to the Chief Minister for Chief Minister Relief Fund.
Smt. Urmil Thakur, local MLA while welcoming the Chief Minister said that it was during his last tenure that 13912 rooms were constructed by implementing Sarswati Bal Vidya Sanklap Yojna and every primary school was provided a facility of three rooms. She said that with the addition of quality educational services, the number of students was constantly increasing in Hamirpur college.
Shri P.C. Patiyal, Principal welcomed the Chief Minister and read out the annual report of the college. Shri Arvind, SCA President urged the Chief Minister to provide hostel and parking facility in the college. A variety cultural programme was also presented by the students on the occasion.
Shri Pyare Lal Sharma, Chairman, APMC, Smt. Sarla Sharma, Chairperson, Zila Parishad, Shri Narender Atri, State President, BJYM, Shri Ajay Sharma, President, District BJYM, Shri Adarsh Kant, Mandal President, BJP, Shri Dharmender Sharma, Vice Chairman, Nagar Parishad, Shri Vijay Pal Soharu, Member, Media Advisory Committee and senior officers of the State Government were present on the occasion.
