Council of Delegates of Asian Federation of Sports Medicine re-elects Prof. Dr. Jaspal Sandhu as Secretary General of Asian Federation of Sports Medicine

Also nominated as the Patron of Indian Association of Sports Medicine for his outstanding contribution towards development of sports medicine in India
Amritsar, February 23- Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Dean, Faculty of Sports Medicine of Guru Nanak Dev University has unanimously been re-elected as Secretary General of Asian Federation of Sports Medicine(AFSM) for a term of four years by the Council of Delegates of Asian Federation of Sports Medicine representing all the Asian countries which met during the International Congress of Knee Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine in Kish Islands free zone on February 21.
    Earlier, Dr. Sandhu has been the first Indian ever to be Secretary General of this Continental Organization controlling Sports Medicine education, application and research in Asia. Dr. Mohammed Razi of Iran was elected as President with a term of two years.
    As per official announcement, now the secretariat of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine will function from the Department of Sports Medicine of Guru Nanak Dev University; Amritsar, India. His re-election is another step towards bringing India on the forefront in the field of sports medicine. Besides this, Dr. Sandhu delivered the keynote address during this congress and also conducted an International Seminar on Sports Injuries in Gulf Medical University of United Arab Emirates, the leading Medical University of Middle east.
Meanwhile, in a communication received from Dr. EBS Ramanathan, President of the Indian Association of Sports Medicine and Professor and Head of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine of Koula Hospital, Muscat, Oman, Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu has been nominated as the Patron of Indian Association of Sports Medicine for his outstanding contribution towards development of sports medicine in India.
