Month long bird watching trip concluded

Chandigarh, February 24; Today, the month long ‘bird Watching Trips’, organized by Department of Science and Technology with involvement of Department of Forests, Chandigarh Administration and Yuvsatta concluded today with participation of 50 students of Government Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector 47D, Chandigarh. 
Giving information about the initiative Pramod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta explained that these field trips for approx. 1000 young student members of over 20 Eco-clubs of Government School of the city were designed to give the young children an overview of thousands of migratory birds flocking and increasing the beauty of Sukhna Lake every year.
The young minds, carrying books on birds, identification charts and binoculars, fanned out around the lake to spot the feathered guests roosting on the sheets of water and treetops.
Sarbjit Kaur, an avid bird watcher and resource person for the programme, said “The event brought students closer to nature. Moreover, it tested their bookish knowledge and would sharpen the minds."
