DISTRICT SANGRUR LEADS IN WHEAT PROCUREMENT IN PUNJAB
Chandigarh, May 14: Wheat Procurement is on full swing in Punjab. District Sangrur with 1198592 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ludhiana with 1021118 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Patiala with 1016833 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
Government agencies and private millers procured more than 12293532 tonnes of wheat till last evening
The spokesman added that Out of total procurement of 12293532 tonnes of wheat in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 12210116 tonnes of wheat till date whereas private traders procured 2048 tonnes of wheat. Till May 13, PUNGRAIN had procured 2089581 tonnes (17.00%) whereas MARKFED procured 2709795 tonnes (22.04%). PUNSUP procured 2777498 tonnes (22.59%), PSWC procured 1397739 tonnes (11.37%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 1387848 tonnes (11.29 %) of wheat. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 1847655 tonnes (15.03%).
The State Government has set up more than 1750 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of wheat, the spokesman added.
