PUNJAB GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES CHILD WELFARE COMMITTEE IN 20 DISTRICTS- MITTAL

Chandigarh, 14 May(Bharatsandesh news):The Punjab Government would launch unified integrated child protection scheme in the state to provide safe and secure environment for overall development of the children, in need of care and protection. This was disclosed here today by social security, women and child development Minister Punjab Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal.
    The Minister said that the main objective of the scheme was to bring several existing child protection programme under one umbrella and introduce new initiatives,  contribute to the improvement in the well being of children in difficult circumstances reducing vulnerabilities to situations and actions that lead to child abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment and Separation.
    Punjab Government had signed a MoU with the government of India Ministry of women and child development, the central share of funds under this scheme was being released by the central government in two installments every year. The state government would transfer both its share of funds and central share to the bank account of state child protection society.
    The Minister further said that state government had constituted child welfare committees in 20 districts and also constituted juvenile justice board in each districts in accordance with the provisions. The government of India had sanctioned Rs. 818.22 lacs to the state of Punjab for implementation of the integrated child protection scheme in the state for the year 2011-12. Mr. Mittal also stated that central share of funds had been received for the construction of children home Patiala and observation home Faridkot.
    Adding further he said that State government has recognized six NGOs as licensed adoption placement agencies for the country adoption i.e. Nari Niketan Trust, Nakodar Road Jalandhar, Swami Ganga Nand Bhuri wale international Foundation Dham VPO Talwandi Khurd, District Ludhiana, Yadwindra Puran Bal Niketan Lahori Gate Patiala, Pingle Ghar Gulam Devi Hospital Road Jalandhar, All India Pingalwara Cheritable Society Amritsar & Sri Radha Krishan Dham Simiti Kotkapura Road Faridkot.
    Mr. Mittal informed that following 10 schems namely state project unit, state child protection society, state adoption resource agency, adoption coordination agency, District child protection society, Juvenile justice board, child welfare committee, shelter home, specialized adoption agencies and observation special home were being funding by the State Government 7 children home, 4 observation home, 2 special home and 2 state after care home were already working for the welfare of children.
