· SEEKS WITHDRAWAL OF ALL UNAUTHORIZED GUNMEN BY WEDNESDAY
Chandigarh, May 14: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today listed out his priorities for next five years for make Punjab Police most professional police force of the country.
Interacting with the SSPs of the districts, Range DIGs, Zonal IGs and Police Commissioners at Police Headquarter here today, Mr. Badal said that he had devoted last three years in fulfilling the aspirations and demands of Police personnel, giving them more what they demanded, just to raise their morale but he has not got from Punjab police force what he desired.
Seeking to change common perception of corruption at Thana level, high headedness of Police force dealing with masses, perception of poor interface of police with common public, Mr. Badal said that Punjab police must instill a sense of security amongst the masses and a scare of law amongst the criminals. Asking for effective traffic control in the Corporation towns Mr. Badal said that he was committed to take war against Drugs to its logical conclusion to save our next generation.
Giving a strong warning to all SSPs Mr. Badal said that it was the duty of the SSP to maintain command and control and to keep all DSPs/SHOs well disciplined. He said that he would not tolerate collusion of any police personnel in illegal possession of property especially of NRIs besides lodging of any false case against any innocent. He said that he has asked DGP to shift out all SHOs/DSPs who were posted in district since last five years and no SSP would be allowed to take his baggage of favorite SHOs/DSPs along with him on his transfer.
Taking strong exception to unauthorized gunmen given to protectees beyond the sanctioned strength of security wing, Mr. Badal asked DGP to ensure that all unauthorized gunmen join back their unit and unit commander would certify that he has not given any unauthorized gunmen to anyone by tomorrow positively.
Reacting strongly to the rising cases of snatching and theft of public property, Mr. Badal said that these cases reflect poorly on the image of police as the affect common persons directly. He also asked DGP to chalk out a plan to check theft of transformers for which he asked DGP to set up a mobile wing on the pattern of 108 ambulance that would reach the spot within 20 minutes.
Asking ADGP traffic to launch a concerted drive against the drunken driving, over speeding, wrong parking, Mr. Badal said that spot challans along with photographic evidence should be sent to the residence of motor vehicle owners within one week. He asked the SSP to hire cranes to toe away vehicles parked wrongly. He said that rules should be amended to heavily fine repeat offenders and fine should multiply after every repeated offence.
Calling for a decisive war against drugs Mr. Badal said that we should not satisfy ourselves with the increase in seizures and go for source of drugs to nip the evil in the bud. He said that it was my personal commitment to people of Punjab to finish this menace of drugs. He also asked SSPs to intensify their efforts against the piracy.
Seeking a specialized investigation wing Mr. Badal said that DGP should put up a proposal to set up a specialized investigation cell especially for heinous crimes.
Thanking the Deputy Chief Minister, DGP Punjab Mr. Sumedh Singh Saini said that he has given the mantra of honesty and fairness to the 72000 strong Punjab police force and he would ensure that by next meeting Deputy Chief Minister witnessed a perceptible change in the working of Police.
