Amritsar, May 16 : The opposition Congress party suffered a major jolt in the border belt of Majha today when ex-Chairman of Market Committee, Majitha, Karnail Singh Nag,23 Panchayats of Baba Bakala assembly constituency along with hundreds of Congress workers joined the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in the presence of Punjab Revenue and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia and Manjit Singh Manna,MLA Baba Bakala constituency.
The Congress leaders and workers who imposed faith in Akali ideology and people friendly policies of SAD-BJP Govt. were welcomed into the ruling party by Mr. Majithia who bestowed upon them the Siropas.During the impressive functions held at village Dhoolka and Naag Navein of Baba Bakala and Majitha constituency respectively,Majithia said that the people were fed up with the Congress party which has become synonymous to the corruption as is evident of number of scams hitting the Congress led UPA in the Centre. He said that this is an indication of congress’s total collapse in the state before upcoming local bodies elections while on the other hand SAD-BJP combine would get full majority in these election by defeating its political rival with a big margin. He said that the development vision of Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal was the main reason behind the congress defeat in the recently held Vidhan Sabha polls as the people of Punjab voted back the SAD-BJP for its exemplary development initiatives and pro-people schemes like Atta Daal,Mai Bhago free cycle scheme and free ambulance service.
Majithia said that with the end of 2012, the Congress Party would be wiped-out from the political arena of Punjab as its leaders and workers are fed up with the senior leadership which is neck-deep into the merry-making and is not concerned at all with the party cadre or the workers. He said Mr.Nag has shown full faith in the Akali Dal and the leadership chief Minister Parkash Singh Badalk and Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal and thus he along with hundreds of his supporters had been welcomed into the party fold by him. He called the Congress anti-poor, anti-farmers and stated that Congress leaders are fulfilling their own vested interests and caring less about their committed workers who are now leaving the party and joining them in hoards. He said more leaders and workers will join the Akali Dal in the coming days.
He said SAD-BJP government was adopting the policy of development and welfare of the common man. He said their leaders have given them clear instructions that the poors and downtrodden needed to be protected and the state must walk the path of the development and prosperity for one and all. During the joining Baba Bakala MLA Manjit Singh Manna and others were present. Majithia also said that these leaders were joining the Akalis without any fear or apprehensions and they were fed up with the Congress leadership and its anti-poor policies.
