NRI COMMISION ISSUES NOTICE TO COMMISSIONER OF POLICE JALANDHAR

·       SEEKS A  REPORT  WITHIN 3 WEEKS AGAINST NRI IMPOSTER HUSBAND
Chandigarh , 16 May: Punjab NRI Commission  today issued notice to the Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar and sought a report within three weeks on the complaint filed by Nileshni Reddy, an NRI wife against her imposter husband Ravi Sidhu alias Amarjit Singh Sidhu resident of Village Chotta Saipur at NRI Police Station, Jalandhar.
A spokesperson of the Commission said that in her complaint she has alleged that they met each other through the website and got married in August 2011 in a Temple in the presence of Ravi’s father. They stayed in a hotel after marriage and then she went to New Zealand for visa extension and returned India in January this year. Since January, they were staying in a hotel and her husband took her to his house only once. However, Ravi Sidhu, her husband went missing on April 26, 2012 when they were in a hotel at New Delhi. She then contacted the family of his husband and were told that they had already snapped all ties with him. Resultantly, she filed a complaint against her husband at NRI Police Station, Jalandhar.
The spokesperson said that the commission TOOK  suo-moto notice on a news published in a English Daily and issued notice to Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar to apprise the Commission about the action taken on the complaint of the said NRI wife and to submit status report on or before 3 weeks.  He said that IG NRI Affairs has been asked to supervise the progress of the investigation in the matter.
