· Rs. 2508 CRORE PROJECT WOULD HAVE 3 ROBs AND 11 UNDER PASSES
CHANDIGARH, MAY 16: The physical work on lifeline project of Malwa region i.e four laning of Zirakpur-Patiala and Patiala-Bathinda roads would begin on September 15, 2012 as Concessionaires of both the projects assured the Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, in this regard.
Mr.R.K. Singh, Chief Operating Officer, IVRCL, concessionaire of Patiala-Bathinda section and Mr. Dilip Dhadiwal, Director Rohan-Rajdeep Tollways Ltd, concessionaire of Zirakpur-Patiala section today assured Deputy Chief Minister to live up to their expectation and complete the project as per deadline given by the Punjab Government. They said that they were privileged to be selected for such a prestigious project that was set to change the face of Punjab. They informed the Deputy Chief Minister that 217.145 km long Chandigarh-Bathinda road would have 14 grade separators and flyovers at Kharar-Banur, Tepla crossing, Liberty Chowk Rajpura, at the merging point of Patiala-Sangrur Dhanaula Byepass, Junction of Samana-Nabha Road, T-Junction with NH 71 at Barnala, Handiyaya Chowk, Bhucho Mandi Chowk, Bibi Wala Chowk and Rose Garden Chowk at Bathinda. It would have three ROBs one at Rajpura byepass and two at Sangrur Byepass and Rampura Phul. They said that Chandigarh-Bathinda Road would have 11 vehicluar under passes, one in Banur Town, 5 on Patiala Bye-pass, 3 on Sangrur Bye-pass, Sunam Junction, Military Area near Army Camping Ground and it would have 21 pedestrian under passes, 17 on Patiala Bye-pass, Village Channo, Gurdwara Mastuana Sahib, Military Area in front of KV School. They also informed that this road would have a major high-level bridge on Bhakra main line on Patiala bye-pass besides service roads in Zirakpur, Banur, Rajpura Town, Bhawanigarh, Mastuana Sahib, Dhanaula, Barnala, Tapa, Rampura Phul, Lehra Mohabbat through Bathinda City.
It was also informed in the meeting that capital cost of the Patiala-Bathinda road was Rs. 2007 crore whereas of Zirakpur-Patiala road was 501 crore.
It was also informed that the land for the four laning of Zirakpur-Bathinda Road has already been acquired and forest and wild life clearance and environmental clearances have already been received.
Asking them to maintain the strict quality of the project, Mr. Badal offered them full support for the timely completion of this project.
