Chandigarh, May 16: Social Security, Women and Child development Minister Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal said here today that Punjab Government has chalked out a Master Plan to provide adequate facilities to physically challenged persons so that they could lead their lives in a better way.
Mr. Mittal informed that three vocational rehabilitation centers for handicapped persons were being run by the Social Security, Women and Child Development Department Punjab, at Ludhiana, Bathinda and Hoshiarpur where training in different types of trades like tailoring, cutting, embroidery, typing, stenography and canning was imparted to the disabled men and women from the age groups of 18 to 40 years. He also said that Rs. 500 as stipend has been given to each students of these centers.
The Minister further said that a budged provision of Rs. 60,77,000 lac had been made under this scheme for the year 2011-12 and amount of 58,82,589 lac had been spent to cover 36 beneficiaries up to March, 2012.
