N.K.Sharma assumes charge in the presence of Deputy CM
Chandigarh, May 16: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that Punjab government has finalized a plan to create product specific industrial zones for giving a boost to industrialization in the state.
Speaking to media persons after installing Mr. N.K. Sharma as Chief Parliamentary Secretary attached to Industry & Commerce Minister at Udyog Bhawan today, Mr. Badal said that Bathinda area would be developed as a textile zone whereas IT industry would be promoted in SAS Nagar, Mohali and Rajpura. Kapurthala would be new hub of hand tools whereas leather industry would be promoted in Jalandhar-Kapurthala area. He said that with the completion of Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh International Airport at Mohali, Industry in Punjab is set to get a big boost.
When asked about steps taken to promote foreign investments in the state Mr. Badal said that he had meetings with various industrial houses who are keen to invest in the state and in next few weeks you would see materialization of such proposals. He said that world class infrastructure coupled with quality power was automatically attracting investment in the state and various industrial houses were showing keen interest to set up their manufacturing base in Punjab.
Congratulating Mr. N.K. Sharma on assuming new charge Mr. Badal said that he was sure that Mr. Sharma would prove a useful asset in promotion of industrial investments in the state.
