Capt Amarinder raps CM/DyCM for misrepresenting Cong legislators’ meetings

CHANDIGARH, May 17: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh today lashed out at the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Chief Minister son Sukhbir Badal for distorting and misrepresenting their routine and incidental meetings with the Congress legislators as if they were friendly with them.
At the same time the PCC President cautioned the party legislators, particularly the younger ones  to beware of the deceit and machinations of the CM and the DyCM who were projecting their routine and at times just incidental meetings with them (the Congress legislators) in such a manner that it could lead to confusion and misunderstandings within the party.
He pointed out, during the recent past, the publicity department of the state has been putting in extra efforts to project some casual and routine meetings of Congress legislators with the CM and the DyCM as if there was complete bonhomie between them and the Congress legislators which is not a fact.
The PCC President maintained that the Akalis were still victimising the Congress workers at the grass-roots level in more brutal manner than during the previous regime and the party has to stand by their workers and supporters besides getting the legal aid. He said, recently the president of the Municipal Council Malerkotla was manhandled in presence of the Local Bodies Minister.
Capt Amarinder advised the legislators that ideally they should avoid meeting the CM and the DyCM in a manner that can be projected in a way that they are more friendly with them (the CM and the DyCM) than their workers because of whom they are MLAs today.
He pointed out, in fact that is what the government has precisely being doing about some recent casual and incidental meetings of the legislators showing as if all was well and it was an absolute atmosphere of goodwill and bonhomie, while the Congress workers and supporters at the state, district and block levels were facing fresh cases and brutal repression.
