LUDHIANA, MAY 17: The PAU Directorate of Extension Education will organize a three-day training course on “Machinery and its safety for different farming operations” from May 21-23 at PAU Kairon Kisan Ghar. The course will involve the participation of Horticulture Development Officers (HDOs) and Agriculture Development Officers (ADOs). The scientists of Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering will associate themselves with the training.
Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education-cum-Course Director, said that the PAU subject-matter specialists will dwell upon bed planting of crops for high productivity and sugarcane trencher, bio-diesel technology, hand tools for small farmers, mechanization of vegetables including potato, processing of fruits with focus on their grading and packaging, micro-irrigation techniques for horticulture crops, mat type paddy nursery raising and maize mechanization. Besides, the PAU farm engineers will apprise the trainees of farm safety measures and will present an overall view of farm machinery systems and precision agriculture, added Dr Gill. The trainees will be imparted theoretical as well as practical knowledge about different types of farm machinery/equipments such as laser land leveler, mechanical transplanter, Happy Seeder, choppers and balers, rotavators and rotary weeders, thresher and combine harvesters, seed extracting machines, pick positioner, digger and root crop harvesters. Dr Gill informed that the registration for the course will be held on May 21 at 9.00 a.m. at the scheduled venue.
