NO EXTENSION OR REEMPLOYMENT TO ANY RETIRING EMPLOYEE

CHANDIGARH, MAY 17: The Punjab Government today issued fresh and strict directions to all the departments directing them not to order extension or offer reemployment to any employee, after his date of retirement.  The extension to the Punjab Civil Services officers would  however be given in view of administrative necessities.
          An official spokesman today said that despite directions of Punjab Government in this regards, some cases of reemployment of officers/employees in some department has come to the notice of Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, who after taking the issue seriously, ordered not to provide reemployment/extension to any officer/employee after the due date of retirement. He also directed that except PCS officers, other officers/employees of Punjab Government would be retired on the due date.
          The spokesman said that Chief Minister has also issued directions to take stern action against the erring department, who would provide reemployment to the retired officers/employees. He said that reemployment and extension to the existing retiring employees besides marring the promotional avenues of juniors also block the recruitment of fresh staff.. He said that the abolition of reemployment would prove a boon for unemployed youth of Punjab. He said that in future no department would reemploy its any officer/employee either by extension or providing them same status on contractual basis.
          The spokesman said that the Administrative Secretaries of the erring departmen would be held responsible for any for any violation in this regard.
