`Nursing week’, concludes at KCN

Amritsar, May 17 : A week-long program that included visit of nursing students to Vidya Sagar Hospital for Mental Health concluded at Khalsa College for Nursing (KCN) here today. The seminars, workshops, lectures, visit to the patients and competitions were organized by College’s Students Nurses Association (SNA) from May 12 to May 17, said Acting KCN Principal Neelam Hans, adding that program marked International Nursing Day, which is celebrated to recognize the services of nurses world over.
Hans said the focus was also on motivating nursing students for research. The students were also told about importance of practice instead of just concentrating on theory. A cultural program was also organized where students performed Gidda, recited poetry, staged play and sang song items. Hans stated that the profession of Nursing is devoted to `social service’ and students must work honestly for the cause of making the society disease-free and treat the patients with utmost care and patience.
The students who won titles in cultural function and skill sessions were given prizes by Hans in the presence of teachers including Prof.Amandeep Kaur and Lecturer Sudha. Khalsa College Governing Council Honourary Secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina sent best wishes to students and their teachers on the International Nursing Day.
