GADVASU organizes training program on ‘Microbiology and Molecular Biology’

Ludhiana-18-May, 2012 : The Department of Veterinary Microbiology, College of Veterinary Science, GADVASU has started a training program entitled “Microbiological and Molecular Biology Techniques” of one month duration for the benefit of students especially undertaking UG and PG programs in Biotechnology and other related disciplines at different institutes and universities. This program is organized every year in the summer break.
Speaking to the students at the inaugural address, Prof.  N. S. Sharma, Senior Scientist cum Head of the Department and coordinator of the program made aware to the students regarding ongoing research projects in Department and highlighted the importance of such trainings in increasing the horizon of science among students and in planning and designing research projects as per their needs and development of collaborative projects. The students have shown keen interest in the program which is reflected by a large number of the applications received from students especially undertaking Biotechnology in various institutes like G.H.G.Khalsa College, Gurusar Sudhar, Guru Nanak Girls College, Ludhiana, Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, S.D.College Barnala and Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Gharuan (Mohali) affiliated with reputed universities like Punjab University, Chandigarh or Punjabi University Patiala. 36 students have registered for this program and will receive training in basic microbiological techniques as well as molecular techniques including delivery of lectures as well as practical demonstrations related to bacteriology, virology, mycology and immunology.
