DPS students get tips on Fire fighting

Amritsar 19 May, 2012 – Senior students of Delhi Public School got tips on vitals of  fire fighting and the modes to save oneself during fires. The fire fighting drill was organized by the department of Physical Education of the school headed by Mr Daljit Singh.
As many as 200 students from class 9th to 12th besides boy hostellers participated in the drill, informed hostel warden Mr. Satish Kumar who along with School Principal Mrs Sangeeta Singh and the staff of senior classes, non teaching staff also observed the drill.
An expert team of three, demonstrated fire fighting techniques using latest fire extinguishers that are powder based.
Students were informed and shown various fires during drill including fire on paper, wood, plastic, cloth, paint, petrol.
They were told about other types of fires as in LPG gas fires, on paint or chemicals, electric fires due to short circuiting.
Students were also given tips on modes of escape in case of fire and how to best combat and control various types of accidental fires.
