CHANDIGARH, MAY 21:The Wheat procurement by government agencies and private millers has exceeded 174012 tonnes more than total wheat procured on the date last year as wheat procurement touched the figure of 1,26,90,775 tonnes on Sunday. Last year on this date 10942763 lac tonnes wheat was procured. The State Government has set up more than 1750 procurement centres across the state.
The spokesman said that the Punjab Government has released Rs 15591.43 crore to the farmers of the state till now and out of that farmers of district Sangrur has received maximum Rs 1546.70 crore followed by District Ludhiana 1322.57 crore. District Patiala bags third position while receiving Rs 1296.22 crore till may 20.
He said that Out of total procurement of 12690775 tonnes of wheat in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 12592930 tonnes of wheat till date whereas private traders procured 2141 tonnes of wheat. Till May 20, PUNSUP procured 2864007 tonnes (22.57%), MARKFED procured 2789720 tonnes (21.98%). whereas PUNGRAIN had procured 2158996 tonnes (17.01%) PSWC procured 1447267 tonnes (11.40%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 1428833 tonnes (11.26 %) of wheat.The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 1904107 tonnes (15.00%).
The spokesman added that District Sangrur with 1216740 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ludhiana with 1038007 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Patiala with 1023275 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
