FOCUS ON JOINT RESEARCH AND TRAINING OF SCIENTISTS AND EXPERTS – SHIVRAJ V. PATIL

AMBASSADOR OF UKRAINE CALLS ON PUNJAB GOVERNOR

CHANDIGARH, MAY 22:  Mr Oleksandr Shevchenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to
India today called on Mr. Shivraj V. Patil, the Punjab Governor and
Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh at Punjab Raj Bhavan.
Discussing various issues Mr. Patil said in order to encourage
scientific and technical cooperation, joint research and training of
scientists and experts should be kept in mind. He said scientists and
engineers of India should work in laboratories of Ukraine and
scientists and engineers of Ukraine in Indian laboratories, right from
the initial stage to exchange their experiences for further
development in the areas concernd.
Mr Patil further said that if we focus on areas of fusion technology
for energy, civil aviation,solar energy and genetic technology we can
cooperate with each other for next 50 years.
The Governor said that Punjab has achieved a major breakthrough in the
agriculture sector and allied fields and state of Punjab is emerging
as a progressive and vibrant investment destination. The State
Government has evolved a responsive mechanism and coordinated farming
ventures and agri-related activities in close coordination with the
scientific community of Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. He
said the State of Punjab and Haryana are major contributers in
national food basket.
Interacting with Governor Punjab, Mr Oleksandr Shevchenko, Ambassador
of Ukraine showed keen interest in the history of the state as briefed
by the Governor of Punjab. Appreciating the valuable suggessions given
by the Governor of Punjab, the Ambassador said that we would give
serious thought on all the areas to further strengthen the cooperation
between the two countries.
