CHANDIGARH, May 22:Punjab is all set to become a first state in the country to have an Arms Information Software in all the districts and Police Commissionerate within one year.
Revealing this here today, Mr Molay Sangal Under Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs in a workshop of Police personals from Punjab, Haryana and UT Chandigarh, said that the main aim behind this project was to computerize the whole record of Arms licensing system in the country and Punjab was the first state to implement this project. He said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has made it mandatory for all state police departments to make all record available online while issuing new licenses. Besides that old record of arms would be made available online in next three years.
Addressing the workshop Mr Sameer Kumar Home secretary Government of Punjab said that with the implementation of this software Punjab is going to have computerized and centralized data base in respect of all arms licenses issues in the state. He said that Punjab would be able to made the whole system fully transparent regarding issuance of arms licenses. He said that after the completion of this project it would be easy to trace the crime cases as well as to eliminate the corruption. Mr S.P.Sharma Director Technical NIC has also addressed the workshop. Police personals from Punjab, Haryana and UT Chandigarh were present in the workshop.
