Amritsar, June 11 (Bharatsandesh news ) Prof. A.S. Brar, Vice-Chancellor of the Guru Nanak Dev University visited Australia recently as one of the Five Vice-Chancellors’ delegation nominated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and University Grants Commission to visit Australia and participate in the India-Australia University Shadowing Programme.
This programme was announced in 2011 during the annual India-Australia Ministerial Dialogue held at New Delhi when the Australian Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Science and Research, Senator the Hon’ble Chris Evans met with the Minister for Human Resource Development, Hon’ble Shri Kapil Sibal. The aim of this Shadowing Program is to foster educational links and promote further partnerships between Indian and Australian universities, and to provide the opportunity for knowledge sharing and establishing future cooperation.
This is a reciprocal program, and Australian participants will visit their Indian Shadowing partners later in this year.
Prof. Brar interacted with different people and segments of the University of Western Australia, Perth and the University of Melbourne. During this visit Prof. Brar also attended the Executive Leadership Training hosted by LH Martin Institute, University of Melbourne, especially for Indian Vice-Chancellors Delegation, 2012.
During his visit, Prof. Brar was also honoured at Perth as well as at Melbourne by prominent Sikh communities in Australia. During his visit to Australia, Prof. Brar discussed the feasibility of having fruitful collaboration with some leading Australian Universities that could be mutually beneficial in the area of Engineering, Technology, Bio-Science & any other emerging areas.
Prof. Brar said that it was successful visit to Australia as he traced many areas of mutual cooperation in the field of higher education which would be fruitful for both the Countries especially for Punjabi Community. He said that Guru Nanak Dev University would shortly sign some MoU’s in this connection.
