12921948 TONNES WHEAT PROCURED IN PUNJAB
Chandigarh, june 12:Wheat Procurement is on full swing in Punjab. District Sangrur with 1221491 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ludhiana with 1043041 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Patiala with 1029873 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
Government agencies and private millers procured more than12921948 tonnes of wheat till last evening compared to 11075592 tonnes of wheat during last year.
The spokesman added that Out of total procurement of12921948 tonnes of wheat in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 12822422 tonnes of wheat till date whereas private traders procured 2145 tonnes of wheat. Till JUNE 11, PUNGRAIN had procured 2207993 tonnes (17.09%) whereas MARKFED procured 2838256 tonnes (21.96%). PUNSUP procured 2920111 tonnes (22.60%), PSWC procured 1463701 tonnes (11.33%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 1457888 tonnes (11.28 %) of wheat. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 1934473 tonnes (14.97%).
The State Government has set up more than 1750 procurement centres and activated its total machinery to ensure smooth procurement of wheat, the spokesman added.
