Chandigarh: June 12: Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Punjab while assuming charge today, highlighted the priorities vis-a-vis the Health Department Punjab in order to provide better health facilities to the people of the state .
Dr. Sidhu also said that the presence of the doctors and the para-medical staff in the government hospitals and dispensaries would be ensured. The quality of food supplied to the patients in the hospitals would be improved. She emphasized the need of constituting the teams of specialists doctors on duty in the OPDs to avoid any inconvenience caused to the patients in case the doctor was on leave.
Referring to the drug-de addiction centers, she said that the antecedents and the authenticity of such centers being run by the private companies/persons would be checked randomly. She also said that the Government would take adequate steps to rehabilitate the persons, and include them to the mainstream, who were out of drugs so that they could be self reliant and earn their livelihood. Dr. Sidhu also said that besides rehabilitating them, yoga and art of living camps would also be organized in the drug de-addiction centers for the patients joining these centers.
Senior Officers of the Department were also present on the occasion.
