VIGILANCE BUREAU SEARCHING FOR ABSCONDING SE HOUSEFED

Chandigarh June 12-Punjab Vigilance Bureau is raiding hideouts of absconding accused Amarjit Gupta Superintending Engineer, now under suspension, of HOUSEFED Punjab in a vigilance case registered against him after the High Court has dismissed his bail application and non-bailable warrant have been issued by the Court against him.
    Disclosing this Balwant Singh, Superintendent of Police, Vigilance Bureau, Economic Offence Wing, who is also Investigating Officer of this case, said that the accused in connivance with contractors had made cuttings/alterations in the tender documents in construction of flats by the HOUSEFED in Sector-79, Ajitgarh and thereby has caused loss of to the tune of Rs. 5 Crore to the state exchequer. He added that in this regard a case under FIR No. 2, dated 02-05-2012 u/s 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B IPC and 13 (1) (d) read with 13 (2) Prevention of Corruption Act-1988 has been registered at Police Station, Vigilance Bureau, FS-1/Punjab at Ajitgarh against the accused Amarjit Gupta S/o Sh. Tarsem Kumar r/o House No. 48, Sector -27/A, Chandigarh and other co-accused.
    He further said that the pleas of the accused for anticipatory bail in the Court of Special Judge Ajitgarh and Punjab & Haryana High Court have already been dismissed and his non-bailable warrant has been issued by the Ajitgarh Court. He warned that if any person found helping the accused to evade his arrest will be liable to be prosecuted as per the provisions in the law. He added that if any body gets any information about the whereabouts of the accused Amarjit Gupta, it may be passed at the Investigating Officer on his telephone numbers 99155-81035 or 0172-2721513. He assured that the name and identity of the person would be kept secret and suitable reward will be given to him.
