CHANDIGARH – June 13, 2012: For the overall development of the society, it is important
to understand the issues pertaining to the development of the community and the
individuals, specifically. In order to understand the dynamics of community life,
theoretically and practically, and to train the students to develop skills and
competence for catering to the learning needs of the children so that they contribute to
the over all development of the society, Department of Community Education & Disability
Studies, Panjab University offers courses in M.A. in Community Education and Development
and B. Ed. (Special Education with Specialization in Learning Disabilities).
MASTER OF ARTS (M.A.) (Community Education & Development)
PROGRAMME:
Community Education is an interdisciplinary course which would enable the students to
understand the issues pertaining to community development at the national as well as at
the global level.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The Basic idea behind this course is:-
• to make the students aware about the different facets of community life, theoretically, as
well as practically.
• to cater the communities in general, socially marginalized, poor, deprived and
disadvantaged sections in specific through experts trained for the purpose.
• to impart training and building human resources for the over- all development of the
society by having partnership with state, civil society and NGOs etc.
• to prepare the students to work with individuals, institutions, state governments,
multinational companies, families, groups and communities indifferent community settings.
• to instill a sense of commitment and dedication among students towards Community
Education and Development by addressing its various problems.
• to develop potential among the takers of this course to get employment in educational
institutions to work as counselors, facilitators in government and non-government
organizations, public health educators, human rights activists and other institutions
devoted to the upliftment of the community.
ELIGIBILITY:
A student having graduation degree in any discipline (Arts, Commerce and Science) with
45% marks (40% in the case of SC/ST). Admission will be based on merit.
DURATION:
Two academic years: Semester system, comprising of four Semesters.

Rs. 7,500/- (approx) per Semester
BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (B.ED.) (Special Education with Specialization In Learning
Disability)
PROGRAMME:
The Department is running B.Ed. (Special Education with Specialization in Learning
Disabilities) affiliated to Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi. The Fourth Batch
will start from July, 2012.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: The course is designed to enable the pupil teachers:
• to acquire knowledge about change in the prevailing and emerging Indian Society in
view of recent trends in education and its national goals.
• to develop skills and competence to cater to the needs of children with Learning
Disabilities and other special needs.
• to Coordinate and collaborate with parents, family, doctors and community in general
to help children with Learning Disabilities to become productive and useful members of
society.
• to equip them with various techniques of inclusive teaching and evaluation in special
education.
ELIGIBILITY:

Schedule of Aptitude Test and Interview for admission to M.A. 1st Semester in Gandhian
and Peace Studies
CHANDIGARH – June 13, 2012: The Department of Gandhian Studies, Panjab University will
conduct the Aptitude Test on July 10, 2012 at 10.00 a.m. to be followed by interviews at
12.00 noon the same day. Both, written test and interviews are compulsory for admission
to M.A. 1st Semester in Gandhian and Peace Studies. Any graduate recognized by Panjab
University with 50% marks is eligible for admission to this class. For further
information, the candidates may contact the office of the Department on any working day
between 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The last date for submission of application forms in the
Department is July 2, 2012, the Chairperson of the department informed.

On-line Admission to B.Com. Part-I
CHANDIGARH- June 13 2012: Admission to B.Com. Part-I in the affiliated Colleges located
in Chandigarh including Department of Evening Studies, Panjab University and the
Colleges located in city of Ludhiana including Colleges namely Shree Atam Vallabh Jain
College and Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce & Management, District Ludhiana for the
session 2012-13.
The detailed information regarding Application Form, number of seats in different
Colleges, eligibility conditions, and reservation policy are available at the website
http://bcomadmissions.puchd.ac.in from June 14, 2012.
The step-wise sequence of admission process is as under:-
1. Fill up the online “Application Form” with at least six options of colleges in order
of their preferences.
2. Take the printout of the application form.
3. Attach self-attested documents with the printout of the application form as under:
(a) Matriculation Certificate
(b) 10+2 Certificate
( c) Category Certificate
4. Attach Demand Draft for Rs.150/- for General Category and Rs.75/- for SC/ST
Candidates for applying in Ludhiana or Chandigarh and Rs.250/- for General
Category and Rs.125/- for SC/ST candidates who will apply for both Chandigarh and
Ludhiana in favour of the Coordinator, B.Com. Admissions, Panjab University,
Chandigarh.
5. Send the Admission form through registered/speed post to Professor Suresh K.
Chadha, Coordinator, B.Com. online Admissions or submit by hand at University
Business School, Arts Block -3, P.U. Campus, Chandigarh by June 30, 2012 up to
5.00 p.m.
6. Forms can also be submitted by hand only at P.U. Regional Centre, Civil Lines,
Ludhiana by June 30, 2012 up to 5.00 p.m.
