CHANDIGARH JUNE 13: Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the notedPakistani Ghazal Maestro Mehdi Hassan, who passed away at Karachi after a protracted illness this afternoon.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister described Mehdi Hassan as a versatile classical singer who gave new dimension to the Ghazal singing and regaled millions of music lovers with his enchanting voice not only in his country but across the globe. Mr. Badal said that Hassan’s death has created a void in the arena of classical music which was difficult to be filled. The Chief Minister hoped that the rich legacy of Mehdi Hassan, famously known as ‘Shahenshah-e-Ghazal’ (Ghazal King) would ever remain a heart throb of millions of his fans through his golden voice for centuries to come.
The Chief Minister also shared his heart-felt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty to give strength to bear this huge loss and grant peace to the departed soul.
