FIVE EMPLOYEES OF TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT FACE SUSPENSION

DERELICTION IN OFFICIAL DUTY WONT BE TOLERATED—-KOHAR
Chandigarh June 13: Mr. Ajit Singh Kohar, Transport Minister Punjab has ordered immediate suspension of five employees of District Transport Office Fatehgarh Sahib who were found absent from office during a surprise check made by the minister-in charge.
    Mr. Kohar, who was present in the DTO office at 9 am, found five employees out of ten posted in the office absent from office. He has asked the Secretary Transport to order their immediate suspension and issue stern warning to those who came late. The minister also went through the office records minutely.
The Minister has also directed the officers in the districts and state headquarters to be punctual and truthfully discharge their official duties. Anybody, howsoever senior he may be, found absent from work without any prior intimation to the officers concerned, would not be spared. Strict departmental action would be initiated against the officers exhibiting negligence in duty. He reiterated that the government was committed to provide free, fair and transparent governance to the people and any kind of inconvenience caused to public would not be tolerated.
Adding further, he said that State Transport department has already taken adequate measures to streamlining the functioning of the department.  The government has fixed a period of seven days for the registration of vehicles, issuing of fitness certificates to the vehicles and driving licenses, tax clearance certificate, issuing of either route permit or national permit, said the Minister. The officers concerned would be liable to action if the time frame was not observed in such cases.
