CHANDIGARH, JUNE 14: The Punjab Government today tightened its noose on tax evaders by coming out with a comprehensive policy to honour whistleblowers giving reliable information on tax evasion. The policy aimed at involving pubic at large in assuring tax compliance by the traders and industrialists and individual tax payers assures anonymity of the informers besides offering them attractive prizes.
Mr. A. Venu Prasad, Excise and Taxation Commissioner disclosing this said that the excise and taxation department has girded up its loins to eliminate the menace of tax evasion from the state by starting this exclusive campaign against the tax evaders. He said that the informers would be awarded confidentially with attractive prizes for helping the department by preventing evasion of taxes. He said that the particulars of the informers would be kept secret and the tax evaders would not be spared at any cost.
The Commissioner asserted that under this scheme the firms and dealers involved in preparation of fake bills would also be on target besides the tax evaders concealing the information at Information Centers of department. He said that informers, who would inform the department regarding dealers and transporters carrying the goods from the railway stations without giving requisite information to the department, would also be awarded.
Giving details for registration of information, Mr. Prasad said that the informers can register the information at the following numbers of mobile teams of departments, for Patiala Division 98729-10050, for Jalandhar Division 98729-10017, for Amritsar Division 98729-10132, for Ferozepur Division 98729-10018, for Faridkot Division 98729-10049, for Ludhiana Division 98729-10009 and on some other numbers of team including 98729-10004, 98729-10007, 98729-10008, 9872910052, 98729-10016 and 98729-10047.
